Is there much difference between a fender and a fender squier guitar?

I want to purchase a fender telecaster, however i have seen fender squier telecasters that are alot cheaper. Are the squier guitars good? Is there much difference apart from price?

The Yamaha Pacifica is a great little guitar. The stock pickups are a pretty decent too. I have played a very versatile HSS model (Humbucker-Single-Single) which I loved. all the best bits of a strat for a fraction of the price.

I lucked out with my squire double fat strat, it sounds great, but I tried half a dozen of the same model and the inconsistency in tone was astounding. Some were fine, some were just terrible. Saying that, both my guitarists have american tele’s, same model (standard series) different years. One is a clunker, the other really sings.

I would say get down to a guitar shop and see what they can offer you within your budget. You may find a squire that really works for you, or you may find you really have to stretch to an actual Fender. It really does depend on the individual guitar.
