Learning Music Note

Guitarists, how do you know where to play the note when reading music?
I’m learning to read music and I’ve got a question.
On the staff, the note is a C. How do I know where on the fretboard to play that C? Same with the other notes.
If you could help me clear this up, I’d appreciate it.
Thank You
Oh okay, I was thinking that I make the decision as to where to play it but I just wanted to make sure.
Most notes on sheet music for the guitar can be played in the first four frets, but the same pitched notes may be played higher up the fretboard as well. Focus on the notes, to include the open notes, up to and including the fourth fret.
Your C notes as mentioned can first be played as Middle C (for the guitar) at the third fret, fifth string and the higher C, which is the Middle C for the piano, may be played on the second string, first fret.
As your knowledge grows, you will eventually learn how to play identical pitched notes higher on the fretboard.
